Office to Guestroom Makeover + New Business Studio!

My mind runs a mile a minute, and unfortunately or FORTUNATELY :) for my office space, it has been receiving a regular glow-up over the past year!

Back in September, I remodeled one of our empty guestrooms into a work and creative space for my 9-5 job and hobbies. The office was spacious and had plenty of room to grow, a feature that came in handy when a couple of my sisters came to visit. At the time, we only had one ready-to-go guestroom, so I had to convert the office area into a second fully functioning guest bedroom and office - a setup that was easy to store away when I wanted my entire office space again!

A couple of months later, the room was finally converted into a workspace/studio for my newly launched handmade jewelry business, Liv Evon Designs Artisan Jewelry! The remodel was budget-friendly (~$100) and really optimized my relatively small work area - making running the business a pretty easy and smooth process.

Now, let's get into the fun part!

Office to Guestroom Makeover

I had about 3 days' notice that both my sisters were coming to town, so I needed to order a mattress and frame, stat - thank you Amazon! I didn't want to order just some standard mattress and frame, but wanted something flexible that would store away easily, because like I said, I wanted my whole office back! I ended up ordering a queen-size boxed foam mattress and matching frame that had the capacity to condense down to what felt like nearly nothing - the mattress came vacuumed pack (yes that's what I said) and the frame as you see could break all the way down to its bones...

(This boxspring required no tools for set up, everything locked into place with knob screws that were provided in the packaging.)

While I waited for the mattress and frame to arrive, I ran to my local Target because I heard they had a 20% off sale on home items - talk about a WIN! Most of the styles available didn't sing to me much, I was a bit picky because I wanted to make sure the bedding matched the flow and decor of my room - so when I found this boho-inspired bedding in white and charcoal, it felt like destiny!

Within 2 hrs time, I had the entire room set up and zen'd out!

When the visit was over, more like a week later, I was ready to have my office back. I ordered a King/Queen size mattress vacuum bag to condense my mattress back down to the size it came - all I needed was a traditional vacuum with a hose and that was that, just a quick 15 mins later!

Designing Business Studio

I needed 3 workstations for my studio - a computer area, a jewelry-making area, and a place to package orders. Luckily, I already had the first area, so it was really down to the last two to complete my studio space.

The left side of my current desk, I figured, would be a great location to make the jewelry, because it was next to my closet which would house almost all the materials I'd need to make pieces. That left me with no table space to package anything, so I hit up IKEA for yet another desk! :) The area between my windows turned out to be the perfect spot for it.

During my IKEA trip, I also purchased a pegboard with storage compartments, to provide another area for me to store some of my jewelry-making tools that I needed closer to me, compared to those in my closet. One additional stop to Michaels for a final storage unit, and I was able to complete the look for my new studio space!

One final thing I did was to swap out my yellow chair for something slightly cozier for those times when I needed a break from desk chair life. It had to be somewhere I could curl up in a blanket and debrief - that fix was my Papasan chair from college. I added a couple of pillows we had around the house to pull together the look!
